COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State junior running back Ashton Jeanty has been named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week, while San José State junior linebacker Jordan Pollard is the MW Defensive Player of the Week. Fresno State sophomore wide receiver Jalen Moss has been selected as MW Special Teams Player of the Week and UNLV running back Greg Burrell is the MW Freshman of the Week.
It is the fourth career MW weekly honor for Jeanty, the second for Pollard and the first for Moss and Burrell.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ASHTON JEANTY, BOISE STATE
Junior, Running Back, Jacksonville, Fla./Lone Star (Texas) HS
Had 25 carries for 192 yards and three touchdowns in Boise State’s last-second 37-34 loss at No. 6/7 Oregon.
Averaged 7.7 yards per carry.
Had rushing TDs of 3, 70 and 8 yards.
Has three rushing TDs of 70-plus yards this season, matching the MW single-season record just two games into the 2024 campaign.
His nine rushing TDs this season match Texas’s Ricky Williams (1998) for the most through his team’s first two games, dating back to 1996.
Also had two catches for 8 yards at Oregon to finish with 200 all-purpose yards.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JORDAN POLLARD, SAN JOSÉ STATE
Junior, Linebacker, Los Angeles, Calif./Faith Lutheran HS
Had a career-high 17 tackles in San José State’s 17-7 win at Air Force.
Had nine solo stops and one tackle for loss.
Turned in his first pass breakup.
Helped SJSU hold Air Force to just 197 yards of total offense.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JALEN MOSS, FRESNO STATE
Sophomore, Wide Receiver, Menlo Park, Calif/Menlo-Atherton HS
Had four punt returns for 88 yards in Fresno State’s 46-30 win over FCS No. 8 Sacramento State.
Logged the first punt return for a touchdown in his career with an 85-yard return and score in the first quarter.
It was Fresno State’s first punt return for a TD since 2022.
Also had one rush for 6 yards and six catches for 76 yards to finish with 170 all-purpose yards.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
GREG BURRELL, UNLV
Freshman, Running Back, Las Vegas, Nev./Desert Pines HS
Had 11 carries for a career-high 101 yards and a touchdown in UNLV’s 72-14 win over Utah Tech.
Averaged 9.2 yards per carry with a long of 42 yards.
Scored his first career touchdown on a 4-yard run in the third quarter.
Was one of six different Rebels to post a rushing touchdown on the day as UNLV rolled up a program-record 695 yards of total offense, including 504 rushing yards.
