
LARAMIE, Wyoming (2/27/25) – The final wrestling Coaches' Ranking was released Thursday in addition to the second RPI and NCAA allocations for every conference. Four University of Wyoming student-athletes appeared in the poll while the Big 12 Conference was allocated 61 automatic bids to the NCAA Championships.
Joey Novak (197) paced the Pokes in the rankings. He's No. 10 in the Coaches' Ranking and No. 9 in the RPI. The Big 12 was given four allocations at 197 pounds.
Jared Hill (157) checked in at No. 18 in the poll and No. 3 in the RPI. Seven automatic bids are up for grabs at the Big 12 Tournament at 157 pounds.
Gabe Willochell (149) owns the No. 24 spot in the Coaches' Ranking and is No. 17 in the RPI. The Big 12 was allocated six spots at 149 pounds.
Eddie Neitenbach (184) rounds out the Cowboys ranked in the poll. He's No. 25 and owns the No. 24 spot in the RPI.
Cooper Voorhees (165) is No. 25 in the RPI. Seven spots are up for grabs at 165 pounds at the Big 12 Tournament.
The Big 12 also received seven allocations at 125 and 141 pounds. The classes of 133 and 174 pounds have six automatic bids at stake, while there are four HWT spots up for grabs.
The Big 10 led the way with 87 allocations. The Big 12 was second with 61. The ACC was awarded 38, the IVY League 26, the MAC 23, the EIWA 22, the PAC-12 17 and the Southern 13. In addition to the automatic bids, four at-large spots are available at each weight.
The Coaches' Ranking and the RPI are two of the tools used for NCAA selection and seeding. The other areas that are looked at include head-to-head competition, quality wins, conference tournament placement, results versus common opponents and win percentage.
The Big 12 Tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma, runs from March 8-9 inside the BOK Center. The entire NCAA Championship field is released on March 11. The field is then seeded on March 12. The Championships in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, stretch from March 20-22 inside the Wells Fargo Center.
