Fan and alumni group Cowboys in Colorado welcomes you to attend their tailgates for each home game of the 2023 season in spot 40 of Tailgate Alley (see map below). Start time is usually 3 hours prior to kickoff. Open to everyone! Feel free to bring drinks and a dish if you would like.

Casper, WY - "Go Pokes" - That's what I heard at 5 AM in the terminal at Newark International Airport while I was groggily walking towards baggage claim following a red-eye flight. I travel often, and I have met at least one UW fan at every airport around the country. University of Wyoming alumni and fans are everywhere (including Newark Int.), but arguably the most concentrated area where they reside (besides Wyoming) is in Colorado. All of these fans in Colorado need a group that hosts watch parties and tailgates, don't they?

That's where the fan group Cowboys in Colorado comes into play. Cowboys in Colorado hosts watch parties, meetings, and fundraisers. One member is Jim Anest, who is a passionate alumnus and fan who has worked very hard to host events not only in Colorado but also tailgates for all home football games that are open to everyone. He is also the leader of Cowboys in Colorado movement when it comes to tailgating. Speaking of watch parties, I have made the trek from Casper to Colorado to attend a watch party, and it was so much fun...if you get the chance, do it!

I remember years ago, Jim sent me a message that said..."See you at the tailgate, all are welcome!", with a map of his spot on Tailgate Alley. I didn't even know Jim at the time, but I wanted to attend his tailgate after he invited me! I showed up, and was greeted with open arms and immediately offered food and drinks. No charge, no catch....just pure generosity and passion for fellow fans. The atmosphere was electric and full of energy right there in the shadows of War Memorial Stadium. I have made it a point to stop at Jim's tailgate when I am making my "rounds" visiting friends.

Last year, Anest took a step back from hosting the tailgate. He often travels between his home on the Baja in Mexico and his home in Parker, Colorado. Yet...no matter where Jim is, he always shows his pride for the Pokes. While Jim has taken a more limited role with the tailgate, I was able to connect him with my friend and fellow Casperite James Pulver who has taken over setting up and cooking the food. "James Pulver, who in addition is a great host and brings that Pulverizing energy to his food menu and what an A+ host he is," Anest stated during a recent conversation via email. You can fully expect Pulver to bring some top-notch food to the tailgate, and the menu changes for every game. One thing is for certain, Cowboys In Colorado hopes to see you at the tailgate this year.
