I usually do a full statistical comparison, but it seems like I can throw that out the window this week. Boise leads Wyoming in all stats except in passing touchdowns, which is surprising because Boise passes the ball a lot more. Even though Boise leads nearly every category, it doesn’t mean that they will win.

Wyoming’s Strengths:

  • Rushing Efficiency: Wyoming averages 4.6 yards per rush attempt.

  • Total Rushing Yards: Wyoming has 1,151 rushing yards this season. If running back Harrison Waylee is back to his previous form, expect to see some explosive plays.

  • Balance: While Wyoming’s passing game isn’t as prolific as Boise State’s, Wyoming does have the ability to effectively run the ball to give their offense balance. The playbook has opened up a lot this year, and it would not be a surprise to see more passing plays.

Boise State’s Strengths:

  • Passing Efficiency: Boise has 121 completions on 215 attempts and 7.6 yards per pass attempt.

  • Total Passing Yards: Bose has 1,642 passing yards, be ready for lots of passing.

  • Total Offensive Yards: Boise has 2,978 yards, which is higher than Wyoming’s total.

  • Balanced Offense: Boise has a great passing game as well as a strong rushing attack that includes a rushing QB. They average 5.1 yards per rush attempt and have scored 16 rushing touchdowns. This balance will make it difficult to defend.

Other Notes:

  • Boise likes to run the ball for touchdowns.

  • Be prepared for Wyoming to play Cowboy Tough football.

  • Boise will be running a 2 QB system.

  • Boise is 2-1 at home this year, while Wyoming is 0-2 on the road.

Keys to the Game:

  • Wyoming will have to open up the playbook to include more passes. Expect Gyllenborg, Wieland, and Marquez to get some laps in.

  • Andrew Peasley will be a critical factor on Saturday. Not only in the passing game but also with his own legs reaching for yards.

  • The defense will be on point as always, expect to see linebackers Easton Gibbs and Shae Suiaunoa have a big game.

  • Although Wyoming has yet to beat Boise State at Boise, Wyoming has won 2 bowl games on the blue turf. There have been several close games against Boise State in recent years, and this Saturday could be Wyoming’s chance to secure a win with their mature team.
